When he was about 13 years old, Cold War Kids’ Matt Maust remembers getting his first ever bass, a Mexican-made Jazz Bass that he grew to love.
But he was doubly excited when he got his American Standard Precision Bass, an instrument that he’s used on most of his band’s albums.
“The American Standard P Bass— it’s like a tank. It just sounds good in any context,” he said. “It’s the most reliable thing ever.”
