On this episode, Thomas and 'professor metal' Manni Zewe from Godslave continue their journey through the iconic riffs and tones of the 90s metal scene. Building on the success of AoT 123 (iconic metal riffs of the 80s) and AoT 140 (iconic metal riffs of the 90s), this episode takes us deeper into the second half of the 90s, when metal was at the peak of its popularity.
The 90s saw metal diversify. Bands like Rammstein, Fear Factory, In Flames and Pantera reaching a new generation with new trends like the 2nd wave of black metal, Gothenburg death metal, melodic death metal, stoner rock, and power metal. The era of nu-metal ushered in a new sound with guitars being tuned even lower and the first 7-strings becoming popular. This, coupled with new high-gain amps like the Mesa Rectifier and Peavey 5150, shaped whole genres and laid the foundations for later metal trends.
On the show, Manni will take us through his top riffs, tones, and styles from the 90s scene, giving us a bunch of incredible metal riffs from leading bands of the era. The guys will also trade riffs on some jams, and of course, they'll show you how to dial in your AMP1 - be it Mercury or Iridium Edition - to get the best possible heavy metal sounds going!
So join us for another deep dive into the world of metal, and don't forget to check out Manni and his band Godslave at https://www.godslave.de
