Well actually, this is stuff Phil-X recorded with us last year ... but we have been so busy putting together our Lesson Packages that we are just now getting back to editing all this Phil-X footage. So stick around we have a lot more to come ... we have both Lesson stuff with Phil teaching his Licks and parts of his tunes from his band Phil-X & the Drills as well as a bunch of interview stuff.

... to find out where you can catch Phil live (one of the greatest shows you'll see ... hi energy, great music and just loads of fun)! More recently Phil-X could be found on the road with Bon Jovi filling in for Richie Sambora and if you were fortunate enough to be at the NAMM show you probably saw him tearing it up at the Yamaha booth talking about his signature guitar and his custom arcane inc px90 pickups (along with some other versions of this amazing signature pickups).

As for this Lesson ... Phil-X walks us thru how he plays the awesome intro to his song Filippin Out! He also talks about how he came up with this insanity. It's an amazingly unique way of mixing fretted notes with harmonics to come of with different types of melodic phrases that seamlessly intertwine to form an extremely challenging riff that is crazy fun to play.

This is Part 1 of this Lesson ... if you would like more of a Note for Note Breakdown and to hear a little further in depth look at some of the concepts and theory used to come up with an idea like this ... you'll want to check out Part 2. We'll also chat a little about how you could steal some of the ideas in this Lick and use them in your own improvisation.
