The Koloss 'metal' aluminium gt-4 electric guitar by specifications has a lot to offer and for the $399 or so for a complete kit this could be brilliant. So I bought one from an Australian company and decided to create a completely truthful video about a guitar that so many guys criticized.
It took me a while to get to build the kit, but it always looked 'in the flesh' as a guitar that would have much potential especially if you played rock or metal guitar. I was excited to get to this review so that I could at last show my findings of the Koloss guitar kit and offer advice to anyone either contemplating or who is going to build a kit. It will open your eyes!
I have built many guitars from parts but nothing like the Koloss GT-4 ( or gt-6 ) before with that incredible aluminium alloy guitar body and the neck that while comprising partly of a plastic like material they do say has carbon impregnated in to it. It all sounds so great on paper... or does it?
In this video I show you every problem, the good and bad things right there in the video, every nuance of this guitar kit I discuss and then I even go on to show you how to get around the problems that you will undoubtedly encounter. I also discuss many other aspects of this guitar including the Koloss guitar neck and how you can (maybe) improve it once you have it in your possession and in my opinion whether its a kit you buy or ready assembled its likely you would STILL want to make those fixes yourself.
Finally both myself and Alan Bruce play three tracks each so the Koloss played guitar becomes reality; so you get a good idea of the tone and playability. However, on the last track, I decided to play the Epiphone SG Custom with the recent Floyd Rose FRX whammy system to show you the difference that is between these two guitars. You SHOULD note that I play differently and better than on the Koloss and that's really for good reason and after the playing there's a short discussion about what we found while playing the Koloss guitar.
For the playing section we used a EVH 5150 III with the exact same settings throughout all guitar work - and even the SG had exactly the same settings, cabs, mic and only on the SG guitar could I knock off the decimator noise reduction - with the Koloss it squealed like a pig otherwise even with that Seymour Duncan pickup fitted... blame the body being hollow! Koloss guitars gt6 or Koloss guitars gt-6 are interesting and that's for sure.
This review took easily a week of my time so bear that in mind please and its not sponsored in any way. The video is a reflection of my exact experience with this Koloss kit guitar ( gt-4 and likely gt-6 too ) and the review is entirely unsponsored in any way.
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE, RING THE BELL, AND THUMBS UP to give my channel a boost and thank you for watching - I hope the video is enjoyable.
