Allen Hinds Legato Lesson - Guitar Lesson - How To Play Legato Techniques - Guitar Instruction and Breakdown
In this "Quick Tip" video Allen Hinds will share a few small ideas about improving your legato playing. He shows you some of the concepts and exercises he used to develop his super smooth legato technique.
We are so happy to have had the opportunity to sit down with Allen for over 5 hours and really dig into his playing style. And we hope you enjoy these quick videos where he shares some small nuggets of guitar gold.
Allen Hinds is one of the most amazing guitar players. From his phrasing and dynamics to his legato and unique way of picking ... he is an all around great player. That is probably why he is a much sought after teacher at the world famous Musicians Institute. Allen Graduated from M.I. (back in the day when it was called GIT) and he also attended Berklee School of Music for a short time. He has studied with some of the best ... from Robben Ford to Joe Pass.
One of the aspects of his playing that is highly regarded is his smooth and dynamic legato technique. It never sounds like he is just playing simple 16th note patterns without picking. His legato is so much more then that of the standard legato player. If you are not familiar with his playing just check out any of his CD's ... they are amazing and filled with ideas that could take years to learn from.

I'm a huge fan of Allen ... not only his playing but also his song writing and sense of melody. I like all his CD's ... but I especially like "Beyond It All" ... "Falling Up" ... and "Fact of the Matter".
So we hope you like these quick little offerings from Allen here on youTube. And we hope you stick around because we have a really great package of stuff that will be available soon.
It will be over an hour of Allen breaking down one of his great improvised solos. When I first heard this solo I was absolutely blown away. It was one of those live moments caught on camera that just had it all. It had great phrasing, great tone and feel, but also had so many unique licks that just kind of punched you in the face and made your jaw drop. We knew immediately we had to try and get Allen to walk us through this improvised solo.
So luckily he agreed and in this lesson package that we will be offering you will learn the solo note for note and hear Allen breakdown each section so that you can see how he came up with it all. He also goes in depth into his legato technique ... his picking technique ... his chromatic ideas ... and his ideas/licks that were influenced by Allen Holdsworth. There really is so much in this package ... each concept could keep you busy for months ... and there are lots of concepts and licks.
Alright then ... we hope you stick around for that. And we hope you're as excited about these kind of offerings as we are ... we have several more planned with other guitar players ... players that you have seen us do lessons on here on youTube.
We hope you enjoy this lesson ...
