Review of the Kemper Profiling Amp inside and out. Wow. This one has been anticipated for some time and mine arrived sparkling from Thomann.
The Kemper at first glance looks like a real geek paradise machine, but you know what, NOTHING is further than the truth where this unit is concerned. The product offers a 'profile' of any amp you put in front of it so we set out with the Divided by 13 and a Road King II to prove it all wrong.
But there was a snag... the Kemper profiling amplifier DOES do what they say and then some. When we get past the profiling and refining the amp being profiled, we carry out a short test where we ask the guitarist that has used the profiled amp for some time to 'blind test' between the Kemper and his amp... and while he got some of it right he got some wrong too - watch the video to see if he could REALLY tell the difference - you will be in awe of the results - as he was.
Forget what you have read before or seen in demos from dealers or others - they usually have a rather large bias because they want to sell you something. NONE tell you the way it really is do they?
That's whats different about reviews from www.tonymckenzie.com I NEVER lie or distort the review in favour of sales (I don't sell anything) and have nothing to gain except to help other musicians see the way it really is with musical equipment when you buy it. I finance EVERYTHING personally - as is the case with this product.
I show the amp both inside first (well as far as I can on this one - check the review out for the info on that) then we play the amp with an Ibanez RG550 and PROFILE the Divided by 13 amp with the Kemper Profiling Amp and you get to see the results. See whether Dan the guitarist can really tell the difference?
And what about the review results? Some say that Tony Mckenzie HATES everything except tube amps (simple ones at that) and this will be another rubbished emulator review... well they would wouldn't they... and there is a long list of less than perfect products in his view from previous reviews with some costing a fortune. But the Kemper is not an emulator - it IS the amp!
But what about this Kemper really? You will have to check out the video and see what score Tony attaches to this profiling amp... (you KNOW you want to) you might be surprised, and of course you might just have judged Tony the wrong way all this time... check the video to find out.
Its possible to buy a simple 1U rack amp for PA and drive it all with the Kemper amp, although Kemper are releasing a power amplifier that will fit in the space behind the unit in due course. For it's £1170 from Thomann in Germany it was half the price of some other kit we could name bought in Europe and substantially superior in every single way.
For a really in depth review of this Kemper profiling Amp and the Divided by 13 Tube amp (Model FTR 37) hop over to http://www.tonymckenzie.com where those reviews will be online about a week after this video was posted - for a complete unbiased no bull*hit review of the Kemper profiling amplifier and the FTR 37 amp. That review will NEVER be on YouTube and that's where you really will get to know more about this Kemper amp and whether its for you or not.
