Celestion speakers are an industry standard. But do the G12T-75 and the V-Type made in China do justice to this brand? I show a comparison between the two speakers, with all other equipment set exactly the same when played. Find out how good these are.
Get answers to questions like these:
Why review these Celestion Speakers?
What is special about Celestion?
Is the Chinese quality any good?
How do these guitar speakers sound?
Do they install easily?
Did you actually buy these speakers?
Are these speakers worth the money?
Do they suit rock music players?
I used a Marshall SC20H Stealth amp and cab to complete this close up review. The speaker cab included a newer V-Type of speaker but I was far more familiar with the G12T-75 speakers as fitted generally in 4x12 Marshall cabs. The G12T-75 is purportedly used by none other than Malmsteen. So I wanted to check them out and compare the tones.
Surprisingly, the V-Type speaker fitted to the Marshall 1x12 cabinet was made in China, but unless you looked close you would never know that fact.
Celestion was (is) renown for being a UK speaker manufacturing company for many years and I liken this Chinese speaker manufacturing rather like buying a Chinese guitar... it looks right, but is it? Have you been sold down the river? Find out in this short review.
In the case of the cab I used the 70 Watt Celestion V-Type speaker (70 watts and 16 Ohms) and from earlier tests and playing it sounded pretty exceptional. This speaker is supposed to sound like v30's and greenbacks mixed together offering a great new sound from a respected maker. That description may or may not be what you hear! However the V-Type speaker is made in China so what are you really getting? A Celestion or Chinese speaker?
The G12T-75 speaker scarily did not show the country of origin when I looked on the Celestion site prior to buying it, and the sellers site was not including the origin either. It makes me wonder if Celestion are somehow embarrassed to say where these speakers are made?
Check these speakers out and don't forget to call Fair Deal Music on 0121 643 1685 - a really great Marshall authorised company where I bought the cab and amplifier from - I'm sure they can help.

Visit http://www.tonymckenzie.com for other non YouTube reviews of guitars, amps and other guitar related gear, and of course my YouTube channel with at least 300+ reviews online since 2009! I bought the amplifier and the manufacturers have had no input whatsoever. Neither have Celestion. My opinions are that of any ordinary person buying one of these products and concluding what I did - completely unbiased. Here you get a review that will always 'tell it the way it is' about all reviewed equipment.
