Based on the overwhelmingly positive reception of the limited release that we did for the Lollar Overdrive pedal last year, we've decided to do it again. Only this time we went with a Fuzz circuit.
Based on the hugely popular circuit found in the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff fuzzz pedal - the "Ram's Head" version, to be specific - the Lollar Fuzz was designed and built to our exact specifications by our friend Keijiro Fukushima at KGR Harmony in Japan. The Ram's Head Big Muff can be heard on countless classic tracks from artists ranging from Pink Floyd's David Gilmour to J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. fame.
The Lollar Fuzz can go from full, creamy saturation to an aggressive roar, with many tops in between. It will feel familiar to Ram’s Head fans, with some added improvements such as a notably more versatile tone control sweep and a crispness and definition that is often elusive in fuzz pedals. We’ve also chosen to include a dry output to make the fuzz even more useful with bass or other instruments.
The pedal is housed in an artisan cast iron enclosure made using the traditional Japanese Nanbu-tekki method at Oitomi Ironworks in Japan's Iwate Prefecture. The forge has operated since the 1840s and is currently in its 9th generation of craft stewardship.
