Tom Sawyer is a riff that is often simplified with power chords but it loses a lot of the magic and tension created by Alex Lifeson's uses of suspended chords. The basic progression for the verse is E, D, A, C while the second part applies a ascending and descending riff that locks in tight with the bass.
