I'm calling this Beta Version 1.0 of my home theater. I believe in the concept of testing as much as you can before buying and building new equipment for projects like this. On paper, I may think I want it a certain way, but when I see it in action... I slap my forehead. Screen size for example. It is hard to really know how big of a screen you want until you see it. So, I painted the wall and have test various screen sizes in different aspect ratios.
Another is speaker placement. In Beta 1.0, the speakers have wires I can trip on and look like a mess, but I get to test out various placements to make sure they are in fact where they sound the best. I did upgrade the projector to an Epson 3600e 3LCD 1080p. It looks great. Someday I will upgrade again, but this projector should get me going until I can buy a good 4k projector when they come down in price.
Overall, I am almost to the place where I have tested enough that I can build the screen with confidence that it will be the right screen size. This home theater is going to eventually be awesome!
