A while back I made a video on why Fenders have string trees and Gibsons don't. In the comments of that video, there where plenty of people that wanted a video of why Gibson headstocks break and fenders don't.
In this video I look at the flawed design of the Gibson head stock, specifically the Gibson Les Paul, including the headstock angle, lack of wood at the headstock angle and the truss rod opening. All of these things come together to make a weak headstock on gibson guitars. This includes the Les Paul, ES 335, SG and more.
Fender and fender style guitars do not suffer from the same weak neck at the headstock. I compare a fender strat to the les paul and it is easy to see why Fender guitars do not break at the headstock and Gibson guitars do.
