today we're jumping into the 5150 Overdrive from MXR. Expertly modeled after Eddie's overdrive channel, the 5150 is so handily nails the tone, that not even the man himself could tell them apart during initial testing. The pedal is equipped with a full three-band EQ for tone shaping much like Eddie's amp, and the Gain control will leave your amp on fire with an unchained range beyond most dirt boxes. The excellent noise gate is silky smooth and doesn't destroy your tone or decay, keeping your high-gain tones free from eruptions of hiss and hum. The Boost switch isn't so much of a standalone boost as it is a tonal enhancement switch, adding more gain and compression, and it's perfect for fattening up the overall tone whenever you need it.
