Welcome to the Academy of Tone.
What is actually the difference between goldtops from different pricing ranges?
Thomas will compare a real 1957 les Paul Goldtop to his 1968 Goldtop and several other affordable guitars. He will discuss potential mods for improvement, and when it’s better to step up to a higher class. Thomas is playing vintage guitars since age 17 and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field and will answer all the questions that you have been dying to know.
Thomas is also the presenter of No.1 guitar center Hamburg’s YouTube channel “the world of vintage guitars”, where he demonstrates and sometimes compares some of the most expensive guitars that’s literally nobody can afford.
In the show, Thomas explains why vintage guitars are still so popular and whether they are still considered the 'ultimate tone monsters'.
We will discover the reasons behind the legendary tone of some vintage guitars and determine if it is simply the "mojo" or if there is more to it.
As a sound designer, Thomas uses his experience to improve tone and feel on more affordable guitars, eg. with his own signature models by the company Vintage.
Also we take a closer look at the impact of pickups on tone, how electric and wiring affects the tone, and how frets and hardware contribute to the overall sound of the guitar.
Join us at the Academy of Tone for a journey through the world of vintage guitars and their impact on tone. Whether you are a seasoned player or just starting out, this academy will help you make informed decisions in a range of price points.
