The Atlas Compressor is an advanced yet easy to use digital compressor pedal. Out of the box the Atlas offers six different compression effects based on iconic studio rack gear as well as some of the most well-regarded effects pedal compressors in the music gear industry. The pedal also features a special Bass Mode that quickly converts each of the pedal’s engines to compression effects specifically optimized for bass.
Atlas is the second Source Audio pedal built in collaboration with our friend Christopher Venter of SHOE pedals out of Meriden, Connecticut. Christopher worked with us on our ZIO Analog Front End + Boost, and we couldn’t be happier with how that pedal turned out. It was obvious to all involved that we needed to work together again.
Among Atlas’ compressor effects are sounds inspired by the legendary 1176 and LA2A studio rack compressors, which have become the industry standard in studio recording equipment. Atlas also features sounds inspired by some of the most popular compressor pedals of the 70s and 80s like the Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer and the Dyna Comp. We also took advantage of Atlas’ two compressor engines, which can simultaneously be run in Series, Parallel, or Band Split Mode. Band Split Mode has separate compression controls for the high and low frequencies.
