Artifakt's Crush mode is a combination of bit crushing and sample rate reduction. Individual knobs control the amount of each effect giving you the ability to use them independently or mixed together. Sample rate reduction creates sounds reminiscent of old-school video games, perfect for nostalgic 80s and 90s tones. Bit crushing creates a range of sounds from a sputtery gated sound to a thick and aggressive square wave fuzz attack. Both effects also pair very nicely with the Artifakt's Ladder filter (controlled by the FILTER knob). Inspired by the filter of a vintage Moog synthesizer, this effect will give you those wildly dramatic filter sweeps often heard in dance, dub, and pop music. It's a sound that swallows the signal almost entirely, leaving nothing but a low end thump. Open the filter back up and enjoy its glorious unfolding effect.
