Murray Guitar Pickups is Ben Murray from South Australia. Ben is passionate about what he does and learned much from another very established South Australian pickup winder. Ben's '54 set is scatterwound meaning no two will be exactly the same. This is how the early Fender pickups largely were as well.
More from Ben:
"Alnico 3 magnets (staggered), 42 gauge heavy formvar coil wire (as used by Fender 54-58 on all Strat® pickups)
...between 5.6k-6.0k dc resistance with the neck being the weakest about 5.6k middle around 5.8k and around 6.0k on the bridge...
They are handwound with my super secret scatter pattern (takes a lot of trial and error to develop a good wind pattern)...
...because they are handwound no two are identical. Scatter winding means that there are air gaps between the wire which acts as an insulating layer against eddy currents, reducing capacitance and preserving a clearer signal. Machine winding is more consistent and predictable but needs more output to overcome the higher capacitance, thats why it works well for humbuckers or p90s but can make a low output single coil sound weak and thin with less transient. This is how Fender did it back in the day and I'm trying to recreate it as best I can.

The preset I wrote for this one (and the current Sting tour we're on) can be downloaded from https://axechange.fractalaudio.com/detail.php?preset=10171 for free. There's an FM9 up there too as well as an HSS version for both Axe-FX III and FM9. Minimum requirements are FW 21.04 for the Axe-FX III and FW 4.01 Public Beta 2 for FM9.
