This Private Stock McCarty Signature was hand built by a small and phenomenally talented team that works with Paul himself. It features a mahogany body, but just about every other part of the guitar is made from East Indian Rosewood. The neck, fretboard, tuning buttons, headstock veneer and top are all made from this great tone wood. The top is particularly striking. It's finished with high gloss nitro, showcasing the exquisite natural beauty of rosewood. The patterns aren't consistent like flame or quilted maple - they're lively, rich and have plenty of activity. Check out the photos to get a feel.

Electronically, this guitar sports the same package as the 408. The bridge pickup a little wider than an average humbucker, and the neck pickup is a bit slimmer. The result is an increased tonal spectrum with tighter low in the neck and more consistent highs throughout. Each pickup has a mini-toggle coil tap. PRS has really dialed in this design: When you switch to single coil mode, you hear the sound of a real single coil pickup, not a humbucker trying to sound like a single coil.

The inlays are mother of pearl birds with paua centers. For a bridge, you'll find the same wrap-around stoptail that Paul's Guitar has. There are brass inserts where the string leaves the slot to promote a more musical high-end. Other features include Phase III locking tuners, Private Stock leather case and mother of pearl side dots.
