Van Halen Mean Street Intro Guitar Lesson Part 2 of 2
For all you Van Halen fans ... and that's probably most of us guitar players ... guitarBreakdown.com is very excited to present to you this tasty little morsel of guitar goodness for your digestion.
Mean Street is one of those riffs ... that is so uniquely Van Halen ... that once you hear the first few notes you know who it is. This intro is a bit difficult to play exactly like the man himself ... but taking it slow and really dialing in his tone really pays off because this is as cool a rhythm lick as you can get.
I couldn't think of a better guitar instructor to teach this lesson then Mr Carl Culpepper. I remember him playing this riff many years ago when he was my instructor at the Atlanta Institute of Music. And I remember being blown away at how close he sounded to the original recording.
This lesson also offers some really good tips on how to achieve eddies tone (tuning tips and gear tips).
I'm sure I don't even have to supply a link to a video where eddie plays this riff ... if you haven't heard it ... or own a copy of this on cd or cassette or 8 track ... we need to talk.
:)
So hope you enjoy this and have as much fun learning from it as we did making it.
