Jared from Drift, demonstrated their latest creation, the Zero. Designed to combine DJing or audio playback with live hardware performance, Zero offers a two-deck DJ style interface with a standard crossfade workflow.
The device is particularly aimed at live remixes and audio file (mp3/Wav) playback synchronized with modular synths.
In his demo, Jared explained the send-return workflow, where an audio file from the internal drive is processed with a WASP filter. And also clocking an external drum sequence for additional parts.
He highlighted Zero's capability to send a synchronized clock to external devices, allowing advanced synchronization options.
Audio is managed through two stereo inputs and outputs.
Running on a Linux system, it has a 32 GB internal storage with USB-C host mode for extra space. Compatibility with both lossy and lossless formats makes it versatile for various needs. Drift plans to release Zero by late Q1 2025 at $499.
