Guitarist Yasmin Williams performs “New Beginnings,” a track from her recent album 'Unwind.'
Williams, who has made a name for herself with her extended techniques, decided on a more conventional fingerstyle approach to the song, which is in open-D tuning. “I wanted this piece to have a simple melody and accompaniment, so I used simpler techniques. I only use extended techniques if the composition calls for it.”
