Premier Guitar’s Chris Kies visits Nashville’s Exit/In before Allah-Las’s gig to hang with bassist Spencer Dunham and guitarists Pedrum Siadatian and Miles Michaud to talk vintage guitars, road-worn tube amps, and why they love ’verb.
The only bass that Spencer Dunham brought on the road to support the just-released Calico Review is this short-scale ’60s Klira Ohio model that he scored at Caveman Vintage in L.A. The Ohio has a rotary control for its tone filter, but he generally rocks it in the first position. He uses D’Addario ECB82 Chromes Flatwound Medium strings.
Guitarist Pedrum Siadatian’s No. 1 is this ’60s Gibson Firebird that is essentially stock except for the kitty sticker on its headstock.
Miles Michaud relies on this 1959 Gibson ES-125T all night long. He used to play an acoustic onstage, but decided to go electric because he wanted a little more signal and energy while performing live.
