The Martin SC-13E is a rethinking of the classic acoustic-electric guitar with performance-focused updates in mind. Rameen Shayega, the International Design Manager at Martin Guitar, shares the details and insights behind these new features. Major enhancements include the SC-13E’s asymmetrical “S” body shape, tone tension X bracing, Sure Align neck system which gives players easy access to the upper-register frets, and a linear dovetail neck joint that allows for easy adjustments of scale, setup and neck rotation.
Stage-ready, the SC-13E includes built-in Fishman MX-T electronics and a new low-profile velocity neck barrel created for increased comfort. Sitka spruce top with Koa back and sides, ebony fingerboard, mother-of-pearl inlays, a new iris-patterned rosette, and an updated pickguard shape finish off the SC-13E’s classic-yet-head-turning look.
