Part of the reason that Finlayson guitars sound so good is the use of Adirondack Spruce for the inner bracing. Bracing forms and shapes much of the guitar’s voice & projection so using Adirondack Spruce, which is the strongest and lightest species of Spruce, is a massively important part of the process.

The Parlour sized 00-50ME is an excellent addition to the Finlayson family of guitars. Spruce and Mahogany are the solid timbers involved here and they add both a warm directness and a top end sparkle to the 00-ME’s surprisingly loud sound. Projection is impressive, assisted ably by the internal bracing.

The 00-50ME is an excellent choice for guitarists who appreciate great fingerpicked tones: this guitar encourages lots of plectrum-free sonic exploration and is very rewarding in that respect.

The finish is a lovely and traditional looking Sunburst, amply adding to the previously mentioned herringbone purling to present a rich looking heritage-style aesthetic. This is as beautiful a guitar to look at as it is to play.
