The Cactus Blossoms—siblings Jack Torrey and Page Burkum—possess sweet vocal harmonies reminiscent of the Everly Brothers.
Hot on the heels of their latest album, You’re Dreaming (Red House), these Minneapolis natives stopped by the Acoustic Guitar studio with a 1951 National 1155 flattop (with a Gibson J-45 body) and a 1953 National solid-body electric (similar to an Ozark model made around that time by National’s sister brand Supro).
The powerhouse duo performed three songs: the aching ballad “If I Can’t Win,” “Stoplight Kisses,” and “Clown Collector.”
