Originally produced by the Valco Manufacturing Company from 1958-1968, Airline guitars were sold through Montgomery-Ward as mail order instruments. Made with fiberglass bodies, unique electronics, and quirky looks, the guitars have been recognized over the years by players from David Bowie to Jack White as instruments that look and sound like nothing else. Eastwood has now reissued these instruments with modern build-quality and upgrades to produce a guitar that looks and feels just like the originals, yet much more affordable to the every day player.
The Airline '59 1P has a super-simple plug in and play vibe with a single-pickup configuration, a TonePros locking bridge, and classy appointments such as block inlays and white rubber body binding to compliment the white pickguard.
