A quick run through of just a small few of the sounds that the Neo Instruments Ventilator II is capable of. This is such a versatile pedal, I've only touched on some of the amazing tones you can get out of this thing...
The highly-anticipated successor to the famed Ventilator I (as used by John Mayer and Chuck Leavell), the Ventilator II boasts a smaller enclosure, stereo input and output, separate controls for both the fast and slow speeds and separate mix/distance controls for the hi and lo rotor. You can also use it with an external expression pedal to control either the speed or mix. All in all, a phenomenal Leslie speaker simulator that sounds just as good as the real thing, but with added versatility and control. It also doesn't require Vin Diesel to carry it into venues for you...
Equipment:
For this recording, I was plugged directly into an iMac, using Guitar Rig 4 for convenience. My Blackstar was killing the neighbours.. For the looping on Bold as Love, I used a Boss RC-2 and for the overdrive at the end and a Zombie Klone made by London-based company Fredric Effects. Also, a JM signature series Strat fitted with Radioshop Pickups (check them out!)
Thank you very much as ever to Dark Horse Strings for their support, as well as Planet Waves/D'Addario for the cables!
Also, a very special thank you to Guido at NI for sending out an advance copy of the Ventilator! I just hope I did it justice :-)
