PG's demo master quickly (and easily) drops in a H-S-S setup into his 1994 40th Anniversary Stratocaster that needed help. Find out what happens when gets his first taste of active pickups.

It all started this summer John Bohlinger and the video crew toured the EMG factory with founding CEO Rob Turner where he learned that the active pickups they're designing do much more than metal and high gain. John wanted to see what some active pickups could do for his 90s Strat that has collected dust due to never nailing the expected tone in his head after countless surgeries and upgrades. EMG sent Bohlinger a Steve Lukather SL20 H-S-S pickguard and to put their active sound to the test.

For years, famed session guitarist and founding member of Toto, Steve Lukather relied on EMG guitar pickups in the studio and on the stage. The EMG SL20 Pro Series system features two of Steve's custom designed SLV single coil pickups and the EMG 85 humbucker with a master volume and tone. The SLV pickups are similar to the SAV pickups, but with increased coil windings for a meatier tone and pole pieces, not a bar, hidden under the solid cap for a more uniform look. When paired with the warm response of the EMG 85 humbucker, the result is a noiseless pickguard set that gives players all the diversity and response Steve Lukather demands.
