Hey, it's Andy with ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com and today we're taking a look at the Fuze from Pettyjohn Electronics. The Fuze is a hybrid distortion and fuzz device with plenty of options, offering a veritable dirt banquet. Two different circuits within the Fuze provide you with individual fuzz and distortion circuits, and the mix knob sets the ratio of fuzz to distortion. The distortion side of the Fuze retains note definition extremely well and sounds dynamite on chords, so blending in just a hair of fuzz gives you a supreme distortion character with a smooth top end. The innovative EQ section places the Lows control before the dirt, so you can trim the fat before the dirt circuits put your signal in the blender, resulting in a much more refined tone. After the engine spits it out, the Highs control comes after the distortion, which lets you tame any inherent brightness. A three-position toggle switch sets the character of the blendable fuzz, from low-gain all the way up to Nuke mode, which gives you amp-melting high-gain fuzz with some mild gating. As with all Pettyjohn pedals, the Fuze is equipped with a full clip of audiophile quality components with a highly-refined clipping structure that tills the dirt just right. Plus the Fuze is designed to stack with any pedal thanks to input and output buffers plus 9-18V for higher headroom. Like all Pettyjohn pedals, the Fuze is made an hour south of us in Albany, Oregon.
