In this exciting episode of Academy of Tone, we’re diving deep into the world of eight-string guitars and the art of creating amazing YouTube videos. Kaylen from „sixstringTV“ is back with us, representing Generation Z. With a passion for metal guitar and all kinds of drop tunings, he’s living the dream of being both a guitarist and a YouTuber.

Eight-String Exploration: Kaylen recently picked up an Ibanez RGDMS8 8-string guitar, featuring a low E string an octave below standard tuning. He'll demonstrate the incredible sounds and possibilities this guitar offers, pushing the limits of how low you can go. We’ll also discuss the evolution of the electric guitar, from its early days to modern innovations like the seven- and eight-string guitars, as well as demonstrating a few drop tunings being used in modern metal like Meshuggah. Of course we’ll show you those drop tuning sounds with AMP1 Iridium Edition and discuss useful tools (pedals) for this kind of tones in combination with any amp.

YouTube Masterclass: Kaylen has just released an online course on making great YouTube videos, drawing from his own successful channel. He’ll share the basics of modern YouTube production, giving you valuable insights into what it takes to create engaging content. Thomas will also pull back the curtain on the Academy of Tone YouTube studio, showing the cameras, lighting setups, and behind-the-scenes work with Lucas, our video expert.

42 Gear Street Recap: Thomas and Kaylen will discuss the recent 42 Gear Street event, a gathering of international YouTubers and top gear brands, organized by the video studio wizard Henning Pauly. Kaylen will give us a sneak peek into what went down at the event, who attended, and what exciting new gear we can expect to see on YouTube channels soon. Thomas will share his own experiences from attending the event in 2019, when the AMP1 Iridium Edition was launched.
