This is a demo of a few Scenes from a Dumble-based preset I wrote to suit the Samarium Cobalt Noiseless (SCN) pickups in my 2006 American Deluxe Telecaster.
SCN Pickups are very lively sounding; much more-so than later 'noiseless' attempts, I feel. They're also very sensitive to pickup height as they have less string-pull than other magnets. That probably helps string sustain too. I like them a lot and am now in the process of hunting down a Strat from the same era.
This preset is one of my first to make use of the new 'Dyna-Cabs' feature in the Axe firmware. They're fully 'dimensional' IR's (my terminology) that let the user choose one of three classic mic types and place them just about anywhere around the proximity of the speaker. I have found that using my ears (and the mouse) rather than my eyes, yields quick and great results. The cab IR's used here are Dumble ("Rumble") EVM 12L and EVM 12S 4x12 cabs, probably, I suspect owned in reality by Cliff Chase himself.
