This 1959 Fender Strat is finished in Sunburst and features a few things that are worth getting very excited about. For starters, you can see that this model is sporting a maple fretboard which is certainly more rare than Starts with a rosewood fretboard from this era. Further, this neck is one piece of solid maple and not a maple fretboard glued onto a maple neck. On top of that, this beast is sporting a fabulous, albeit thinner, D neck profile ( 0.82" at 1st fret and 0.98" at the 12th ). The neck has been sanded, oversprayed and eventually worn into vintage perfection. The finish work on the neck was most likely done during the refretting process. The frets on this guitar right now are excellent! The neck joint dates to 3/59, written in pencil before the infamous "obscenity" scandal that had Leo Fender banishing the neck dates off of guitars for a few months later this year. The neck also features black dot inlays, a replacement nut and replacement Schaller tuners. The headstock logo is original to this guitar and has been well preserved by the overspray.

The body of this guitar has not had any finish work done to it. The body dates to 1/59 behind the trem springs. the single ply pickguard is original as is the backplate. The pickguard screws have been replaced as have half of the bridge screws and intonation springs. The bridge itself is original to this guitar. The black back single coil pickups are also original to this guitar and measure as follows : Neck - 5.62k, Mid - 5.67k, Bridge - 6k. This '59 Strat also features its original "chicklet / phone book" capacitor which was new for this year/ The grounding joints on the volume pot have been touched up over the years.

This beautiful vintage Strat comes with a replacement Fender hard shell case from the 1970's.
