I saw news about Fender, Roland and others being investigated for price fixing in the UK (confirmed by telegraph.co.uk) and although the regulatory body did not name them, the telegraph did. I wanted to raise a few points about what is happening and also about how I see prices worldwide when I buy equipment.
For anyone unfamiliar with MAP pricing and exactly what that is, this video should be very educational and could conceivably save you lots of money when you're buying music equipment.
I explain what MAP is, I show how it affects every online company for one product in particular (a GT-1000) but also bear in mind that what I comment can be used to check many brands of gear and then it becomes immediately obvious who is applying this appalling method of misleading customers who want to buy products. It's not just limited to music gear either!
