Led Zeppelin "The Wanton Song" guitar lesson. Today we're using a Wampler Velvet Fuzz to reproduce this mysterious Jimmy Page tone. The main riff is based on a G octave and Jimmy keeps the strumming very loose to match the groove versus double strokes every time. The guitar tone in The Wanton Song is somehow rude, yet smooth with a touch of compression, a perfect fit for the Velvet Fuzz. Most fuzz pedals won't agree with diminished chords but the pedal's tight mode pushes through the jazzy Fm, Bdim7, Cm7, C#dim7 progression. The final part shows how the Velvet comes through clear even with a neck humbucker as this funkier section plays with some tricky accents/timing. Enjoy your riff of the day guitar lesson.
