During their closed Senate Committee hearings, a whistleblower revealed that the Musical Instruments – Luxury Division of the Caroline Corporation laundered much of their illicitly obtained assets in the 1980s through the purported sales of "Hot Licks" and "Hot Shred" guitar instructional videocassettes. The ATF demanded all copies to be pulled from the shelves and buried in New Mexico underneath the landfills holding unsold copies of Atari's "E.T.: The Game", but rumors remain that some copies may still exist.
Winner of the 1987 Blues Shred competition, multi-level marketing innovator, motivational speaker, and hot sauce heir John Donson has been missing since parachuting out of a Cessna flying between Portland and Seattle in 1992. A filled notebook entitled: "things I'll teach those grunge clowns about REAL music" was found by the FBI near a parachute, some discarded PowerBar wrappers, and empty cans of Lowenbrau at a makeshift campsite along the banks of the Wishkah River.
