We recently visited the Burbank, CA headquarters of ribbon microphone manufacturer Royer Labs. While there, we took a tour of their factory and sat down for an in-depth conversation with their president and co-founder, Rick Perrotta.

Rick shared some of his own background and traces the history of Royer Labs, from his first meeting with microphone legend David Royer to the company's first trip to the AES Convention in 1998, where they introduced their first products, the R-121 microphone and SF-12 microphone.

Years later Royer has expanded their product line to include a wide assortment of microphones, including the budget-friendly R-10 microphone.
