Imagine an exclusive club filled with guitar legends. Some are players like Michael Landau, Steve Lukather, David Williams, Abe Laboriel, Dann Huff, and Buzz Feiten–guys who are your favorite player’s favorite players, the session guys whose riffs and licks are more famous than their names. Some of them are so famous that they go by one name, like Prince. John Fogerty, Steve Howe, Elvis Costello, Walter Becker, and George Lynch are there, too. But, it’s not an elitist affair, even though the players are of an elite caliber. You don’t need a special knock or a password or knowledge of an alleyway entrance to get into this secret gathering–just a James Tyler guitar, because it’s the James Tyler Owner’s Club. Though the clubhouse (sadly) isn’t real, James Tyler’s guitars do carry an air of mystique and secrecy about them –not because they’re elitist, but because James Tyler simply doesn’t do much promotion. He lets the guitars do the talking for him. Nevertheless, when you see someone with a James Tyler guitar slung over their shoulder, you know that they belong to the select echelon of guitar players who are in the know.
