Welcome back to Friends Pick Friday, and today we have Emily Harris in the shop! Emily has been a customer of the shop for some time, been playing most of her life, and is also a core component of the 'Get Offset' podcast which she runs with her friend Andrew Rinard. They cover everything from pedals and guitar, to social issues and non-music that affect the music scene. Today's video was set up with the help of the Womxn In Music collective (links below) which consists of everything from musicians and players, to engineers, producers, songwriters, marketing, and management!
Now, for instruments and amp, Emily selected some really cool pieces that we love having in the shop, and we love to find good homes for! Starting with guitars, she immediately gravitated toward an incredibly beautiful 1971 Fender Coronado II in very rare Daphne Blue custom color - a fantastic all-original guitar short of a new nut. This guitar plays great and has a lovely jangle to the tone thanks to its single-coil pickups and a great tremolo system. The second guitar for the day is a 1974 Fender Jazzmaster, as we couldn't have Emily not playing a cool offset guitar - this is an incredibly clean *completely* original guitar with a great medium-c profile neck, great pickups, and is surprisingly lightweight and comfortable to hang off your shoulders for a long period of time! Now, when it came to amps, the only real criteria was that we wanted a little bit of integrated tremolo, and Emily has always wanted to try out one of the little Silvertone combos, but they're often sold before she's gotten a chance to - well today was the day, and we grabbed a funky little 1960s Silvertone Model 1472. These amps have a unique sound that sets itself apart from the much more common Deluxe and Vox tones that you'll hear on stage regularly, they look unique, and are also great lightweight gig amps.
The only problem for you all is... well, Emily loved the amp so much that she took it home with her after we were done shooting - happy home for a great amp!
