Signal Chain: Warwick Streamer LX with Elixir Stainless Steel strings - Super Symmetry - Focusrite Interface. Loop is Bass straight to interface then reamped through an Art Dual RDB - Symmetry - Interface.
Part One: This is an intro to the pedal and shows a couple settings. 50/50 blend to full wet signal, as well as 50% compression to 100% compression.
Part Two: I adjust all settings while a previously recorded loop is played. The Meter's show the original line played on the left and the SS on the right. The Audio you hear is always from the right side, so when bypassed it shows that the Gain levels match and when engaged shows the various amounts of compression of the SS. The metering does not tell the whole story, but offers a quick reference of where the compression is happening.
I love this compressor! Everything at noon and the output adjusted to unity is my favorite setting. It fattens up all the higher notes, especially on the D and G strings which can sound thin without it. the Low B and lower notes get tightened up as well and don't sound overpowering and muddy. This pedal really does a great job at balancing the sound and fattening/tightening where needed. There is absolutely NO low end loss anywhere in the settings, however the high end is subdued a bit. This is more noticable on darker sounding instruments. With my jazz bass it was hard to tell any difference.
