Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone
Fresh from NAMM 2009 in Nashville comes a new pedal from the folks at Pigtronix, the Philosopher's Tone. Described as a Compressor/Sustainer, the pedal is both of these things and more and in a size small enough to fit in the pocket of your guitars gig bag
The Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone has many sounds hiding within its compact metal chassis. Capable of an amazing, transparent compression sound, this new Pigtronix is the way to get that twang & spank you have been looking for. The polyphonic sustain effect creates a near infinite sustain when clean or fuzzed out. Sounds like the old Fernandes Sustainer except you dont have to play a Fernandes. It doesnt stop there though, the Philosopher's Tone is also capable of a very cool fuzz sustain tone mixed with the compressed clean tone when you dial up the grit knob. This is one of those pedals that just grows on you. The more you use it the more you see what it can do.
The knobs that control the Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone are Grit (adds harmonics for a fuzzy tone), Sustain (controls the level of Polyphonic Sustain from zero to infinite), Blend (Mixes the clean and effected signal), Treble (Adds brightness to the signal which allow you to cut through the mix) and Volume (Controls the overall signal to the amp). If you have been looking for a new sonic arrow to add to you quiver, the Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone might just do the trick.
