Today, we’re inhabiting the Echosystem from Empress Effects. The Echosystem is a multifaceted dual engine delay, with an unbelievable level of control. Featuring 12 delay environments and several submodes within each, the Echosystem covers every delay type in the book, and even writes a few new chapters. Across all 12 environments, the Echosystem features 36 studio-quality delay types, with more in the works. Each delay engine is governed by five global knobs and two “thing” knobs that control individual parameters depending on which mode you’re in. These specialty knobs can control everything from modulation rate and depth to aliasing strength and decay diffusion. Navigating these types couldn’t be simpler, because the Echosystem gives you access to 35 presets, as well as two ways to cycle through them for quick patch changes. The routing capabilities are just as immersive as the delay selection, giving you the ability to run two different delay engines at once, then routing them in series, parallel, or with each engine going to an individual output. The dry signal path of the Echosystem is 100 percent analog, and the delay side features the latest in AD converters for the purest tone possible. The output processing is just as feature laden as the engines themselves, giving you three different cabinet simulators, as well as hum-free stereo operation because of an integrated output transformer. Empress has also included a universal control port that lets you connect any type of control device or protocol you may have, including MIDI, external audio, tap tempo, control voltage and expression control. And just like all Empress Effects, the Echosystem is built with the finest parts money can buy.
