Alright ... Before we start our description to this Lesson ... Let us start with ... JULY 16, 2013 ... the best day of the year!!!
The Aristocrats new CD called Culture Clash ... promising many new Guthrie Govan Guitar Licks is on it's way!
If you are reading this ... then you are most likely as excited as we are to get our hands (ears) on a copy of this Album (CD, DVD). If you are not familiar with the Aristocrats ... go right now and purchase their first CD ... it will blow your mind! And this second CD is going to be amazing (now that they've had so much time touring together ... we can only imagine how this will positively affect them when it comes to writing new tunes) ... July 16th can't come soon enough.
Anyway ... on to this Lesson! Every time we see/hear something with Guthrie Govan playing on it ... we immediately sit down and transcribe something from it. This really happens every time without fail. Guthrie is one of those guitar players that just stuns you every time and always does something different that makes you go ... "Man, I gotta learn what he's doing there"!
So In this Lesson we will show you a cool Lick that Guthrie plays on the upcoming Aristocrats Culture Clash CD. This lick incorporates a really cool concept that you will want to incorporate into your own playing immediately ... and we will show you how to do this. This Lick mixes cool bends to create tension and it moves up in minor thirds to give the feel of a Diminished Lick.
This Lesson is one in a series of many short Lessons we have over at GuitarBreakdown.com. These can all be found in the Free Lessons section of our site. The intent of each one of these "Quick Licks" Lessons is to show some really cool but short Ideas and show how you can take a simple Concept or Lick and create a bunch of other great Licks of your own. We will have "Quick Licks" based on all styles from Jazz to Rock to Country and Fusion. Even if you are not a fan of a particular style of Guitar playing we suggest you check out each one of these Lessons because regardless the style ... these short Ideas can be used in any style of music.
In each one of these "Quick Licks" Lessons you will walk away learning a short 5 or 6 note Concept or a quick one or two Measure Lick ... which is awesome in itself. But then the fun begins. We will explore with you a bunch of different ways that you can expand on this Lick / Concept ... and really have it become a part of your own playing.
We hope you get a lot out of this Free Guitar Lesson And stick around, we will most definitely have a bunch more Lessons related to the Guitar Magic that Guthrie lays on us with this new CD. As always feel free to send us your requests.
On a side note ... In this video Lesson, I am once again using the awesome Wampler Euphoria Pedal. There is so much tone in this little pedal ... it continually draws me back and supplies me with inspiring tones. It is one of only a few pedals that almost always find their way onto my pedal board.
