Open tunings literally open up all kinds of possibilities for acoustic guitarists. While many will start with the much-loved DADGAD tuning, there are lots more options to explore. In this short acoustic guitar tutorial, one of the UK’s leading guitarists and Elixir Strings artist Tristan Seume gives an introduction to his favorite tuning – CGDGCD. Also used by guitar legends like Pierre Bensusan and Martin Simpson, CGDGCD is sometimes referred to as Orkney tuning or Csus2 tuning and allows you to move away from DADGAD’s key center of D and create beautiful textures and melodies.
