TheGigRig G3 has internal Bluetooth designed to connect to the G3 iOS app. From here you can install software updates, upload backups, even create setlists and beam them direct to your G3

Firstly, just search for TheGigRig G3 App at the iOS App Store or click the link in the description. It’s a free app, and will work on any iPhones and iPads.
Software update
1. So lets look at updating our software. The first thing you want to do after you’ve downloaded the app is check your software version. Head to the GLOBAL menu, then VERSION, you’ll see what version of software you’re using
2. Now head to TheGigRig.com on your phone and navigate to the G3 support page. There you’ll find the info on the latest software update. If the update version on the website is a higher number, then it means it’s time to update your software. It won’t mess with any presets you’ve created, but on certain things like tap tempo etc you mate need to start those again.
3. Tap on the link on the site and you’ll download the sysex file on your phone.
4. Open the download tab, and click on the sysex file to open it in the G3 app
5. Ok, we’re now ready to do the update
6. Head to the Bluetooth setting in globals
7. Now head to update, and press 4
8. This will turn on the Bluetooth in G3
9. Now open up the app
10. Head to connect. You’ll see your unit in the Bluetooth list, select it.
11. Once it’s connected press dismiss in the bottom right hand corner
12. You’ll see connect is highlighted green which tells you your connected.
13. Now go to update in the app
14. You’ll see firmware files, scroll to the firmware you want to install
15. Now press transmit
The app will now send the software update to your G3. At the end of the process you’ll need to check that the checksum matches and you’ve received the correct number of packets. If either of these is off, you’ll need to restart the process
Once you’ve confirmed you have the correct checksum and packets received you’ll need to cycle the power. And now youre good to go, you have the new software in your G3
Song List
G3 has 2 separate modes, Bank mode which displays just the bank number, or Song mode which replaces the bank number with for a song name.
1. Open the app and create a song list. Remember that each song will correspond to a bank number
2. Once you’ve created a songlist you can edit it within the app, change the song name, and even re=order your song list.
3. Once you’ve finished editing press done and you can save your songloist as a separate list. This is great for reordering songs in a setlist
4. Now where ready to transmit your songkist to G3
5. Head to Bluetooth and then Load Song List
6. This turns on the Bluetooth in G3 and is now waiting to receive you songlist
7. Make sure you have the correct songlist selected in the songlist files and press transmit on the app
8. G3 will now start receiving the songlist file. When its finished it will say Press Preset 4 to save
9. Then it will say Stored, press deep edit to exit
10. Now you can switch between Bank Mode and song mode in the gobal menu
Backup
1. To Backuo your G3, head to globals - Bluetooth – Save Backup
2. You’ll see Connect with Bluetooth then press 4
3. Hit connect on the app, you’ll see your unitin the Bluetooth list, once connected press dismiss.
4. Press update on the app
5. We’re ready to receive the backup
6. Press 4 on G3 and you’ll the packets being received by the app as well as the progress on the G3 screen
7. Once its finished prewss deep edit menu to exit on G3
8. Press Save on the app to name and save your backup.
Restore
1. On G3, head to Globals, then restore Backup
2. Connect the app
3. Head to backup and load the backup file
4. Press transmit
5. Once its finished loading the backup, you’ll see it ask for a power cycle
6. Cycle the power, and you’re done
