Talk about a state of grace. Fingerstylist, composer, and educator Tim Farrell spins beautiful, lyrical melodies from his Santa Cruz guitar. And he makes it all seem so effortless.
Farrell—who performs solo and with the trio StringsSongs (with bassist Michael Manring and keyboardist Pat Robinson)—stopped by the Acoustic Guitar studio recently to perform his solo acoustic cover of the Allman Brothers’ classic “Little Martha,” as well as his own compositions “Joyride to Tranquility” and “Rosewood Alley,” a song that won Best Instrumental at the International Acoustic Music Awards.
He uses open E tuning (E-B-E-G♯-B-E) on “:Little Martha; double dropped D on “Joyride To Tranquility” and “Rosewood Alley.”
