Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Next, we're feeling the Purple Plexifier from One Control. This tiny pedal is a high-quality Marshall Plexi-style stack in a box, and we don’t just mean a preamp. The Purple Plexifier is a distortion designed to emulate a Plexi-style preamp feeding a tower of speakers with a crown of power tubes. The mastermind behind the Plexifier is renowned pedal guru Bjorn Juhl, whose own dirt pedals are regarded as the pinnacle of distortion design. He engineered the Purple Plexifier from the ground up, voicing it for not only the sound of a 100-watt stack, but also the feel, giving you the playability and touch-sensitive response of a real Marshall. In keeping tradition with a roaring British stack, the gain range of the Plexifier is enormous. The Plexifier's Gain control tops out at 67 decibels, which is loud enough to get your amp in a full nelson or push other dirt boxes into sweet saturation. The lower range of the Distortion control is voiced to provide the same dynamic range of a smaller tube amp. A trimpot on the side gives you control over the midrange content for even more tonal flexibility. Bjorn also specifically voiced this pedal to work with every pickup and amp combination under the sun, even active pickups and solid-state amps. The Purple Plexifier's tiny size allows players with even the most crowded rigs to get on board, and it even accepts a nine-volt battery for the ultimate grab-and-go pedal. Like all other One Control BJF series FX, the Purple Plexifier is built in Japan.
