Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today, we're taking a walk on the Night Wire from EarthQuaker Devices. Harmonic tremolo is the name of the Night Wire's game, with plenty of extra features packed in. Harmonic tremolo is accomplished with high- and low-pass filters working in tandem, which are then modulated together. Both the Frequency and Rate controls have toggle switches that govern them. The Rate toggle switches between Manual and Attack modes, giving players the option to set the Rate manually like a traditional trem, or let their picking strength determine the rate. The Frequency knob sets the center frequency of the filters, and its toggle lets you choose the dynamics of that knob as well. Attack mode changes the Night Wire into a killer envelope filter, and with the Depth knob down, it behaves as one. LFO mode modulates the center frequency for a killer "stacked tremolo" sound, and Manual mode turns the Night Wire into a fixed filter to give your lead lines some extra flavor. Like all EarthQuaker Devices, the Night Wire is hand made with love within the foggy canyon of Akron Ohio.
