Dan Veall unveils a brand new column In this month’s edition of Guitar Interactive Magazine, taking a more in-depth look at the controls of your bass amplifier.
The idea of this column is to delve a little deeper than the examples I would give in my review videos and take the time to explain in more detail what each control and connection on a usual amplifier would be. Now, with a caveat: Not all amplifiers are made equally - thus, I can’t cover all extremities of the bass gear world. I am therefore straddling a ‘general approach’ because of those differences whilst at the same time endeavouring to give you as much guidance using the example hardware. The subject can be pretty vast and there is limited room in each column, so those who know your amplifiers already will have your own examples to mind that I may or may not have covered.
In my video, I am using the great sounding Tech 21 VTB200 and also a Tech 21 DP-3X pedal to demonstrate some tonal examples. However, this could apply to a wide range of different types of bass amplifier.
