Welcome to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today we're checking out the Russian Pickle from Way Huge. The Russian Pickle is a complete reimagining of the classic Army-green Big Muff made in the 1990s by Sovtek that still retains the character of the original. The Russian Pickle features a full clip of specially chosen transistors that don't exist in any other Muff variant, complemented by a carefully selected bandolier of passive components for a Russian flavored Muff that sings on both guitar and bass. The weakest link of any Muff pedal is its Tone control, and the Russian Pickle remedies this by providing a Tone knob that is usable at all positions and with all types of guitars. Rolling the Tone knob all the way back gives you a smoother, woollier tone tailor-made for rhythm, while the higher settings restore treble while keeping the low end tight. This low-end tightness throughout all settings make the Russian Pickle a must-have for bass players, because the circuit generates plenty of low frequencies without the need for a blend control. The circuit has also been tweaked to wring out the maximum amount of gain, and the Distortion knob provides boatloads of fuzz when cranked, along with several usable spots in between for maximum versatility. A soft-touch switch comes standard, engineered for true bypass without any mechanical clicks or pops. And like all Way Huge pedals, each one is made in the USA and is built to last forever.
