The Helix amp and effects processor can help the recording and writing process in different ways, including utilizing many different amp and cab models to create contrasting rhythm guitar and bass tones in your mix as well as using different effects to create interest and fill out your sound.
In a recent video, ‘Helix Family Overview’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYBvWhEHPN4) every part was created in Helix—of particular note is the "3 Note Generator" Synth effect.
A "145 Rotary" and some "Dynamic Hall" reverb were added to the Helix "3 Note Generator" synth effect to create some big chord pads to play over. Each chord was created using "snapshots" to change note values so the different chords could be laid out on eight footswitches as snapshots.
This particular preset also allows momentary pressing of the footswitches so that the chord only sounds when the footswitch is pressed down (Technical note: the "snapshot release" switches to an "off’" snapshot).
Each snapshot also changes the speed of the Rotary effect for added realism.
This video is a breakdown of the backing tracks used in the final track. The Synth Preset is available from Line 6 Custom Tone here: https://bit.ly/3IW7SMZ
