Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today we're heading into the great beyond with the Casper Delay from CAST Engineering. The Casper Delay's ghostly heart is the digital PT2399 chip used as a blank canvas, with plenty of outboard processing that makes the pedal sound much more analog than digital. The Casper's delay time is configured to push beyond the standard time for the chip, resulting in gently broken-up repeats that fall apart quicker than most. The maximum delay time is a friendly 700 milliseconds, which is long enough for some ambient passages, yet short enough for dotted-eighth delay tones. The front of the Casper features standard controls for Delay, Level and Repeats, but exploring the guts uncovers a trimpot. This hidden control sets how quickly the delay heads into self-oscillation, so you can set the repeats to no oscillations with heavy feedback, or to use the Casper to blast off into orbit within seconds. Rolling this trimpot back will cause the repeats to cycle longer and cleaner. The Casper's knobs are outfitted with a halo lighting system that will jazz up any boring pedalboard light display. Each Casper is put together using top-quality parts by real flesh-and-blood humans right here in the states.
